Can You Experience: School / Youth Activities

Canoeing

Our sheltered lagoon on Loch Lomond is the ideal place to learn to canoe.  We have a fleet of large, open canoes.  Canoes can be rafted to form a stable platform; rafted canoes are particularly good for developing communication skills and teambuilding. Included in each session can be some exhilarating canoe games – a fantastic learning experience and if you were to choose a full day session we would be able to stop and enjoy some of the fascinating islands on Loch Lomond.

Hiking

We run a number of walks around Loch Lomond varying in length, height gain, and degrees of effort!   Half day walks will generally involve some height gain, and longer full day hike routes such as Ben Lomond can also be accommodated for the right group.

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking sessions concentrate on bike-handling skills.  The children will be introduced to some adrenalin pumping technical challenges, like track stands, front wheel lifts and mountain biking position.  All of which takes part in a beautiful country park with stunning views of Loch Lomond.

Orienteering

This activity introduces children to map work and problem solving skills. Healthy competition and teamwork makes this a fun, effective activity.

Forest Art

Fun, challenging and educational art sessions using the outdoor environment as your canvas.  The session focuses on creativity in the outdoor environment.  Through these it is possible to reflect, explore and share our thoughts and feelings about the natural world.

Power Kiting

Try this fantastic new sport, which will leave you exhilarated and looking for more.  Learn to fly a magnificent power kite, trying out various styles and sizes.

Survival Skills

Get back to nature and learn about how to survive in the outdoors -build a shelter, learn how our ancestors made fire from natural collectable materials and learn about nature’s larder.

Abseiling

Experience the challenge of controlling your own descent of a cliff face (with safety rope).  Encourage team mates and share in the thrills of this classic outdoor activity.

Team building

Planning, problem solving, and exploring the benefits of working as a team are the main learning outcomes of our teambuilding games. We can offer improvised raft building, problem solving games and treasure hunts as part of the programme.

Improvised Raft-Building

Using only barrels, poles & rope the teams must plan and build an improvised raft in an attempt to float the raft just offshore.  This is ideal for children ready for action and looking for a fun, team-building activity.

Treasure Hunt

A treasure hunt with a difference!  The children will find the clues and solve them on foot AND canoe – what better way to explore Scotland’s first National Park!  Watch the excitement mount as the teams collect each piece of information, leading to the final clue, which is solved by the entire team – discover the hidden treasure!  Expect camaraderie and lots of laughter as the teams accomplish their goal!

Pictorial Treasure Hunt

Developed around the specific needs of your group, the treasure hunt is actually a fact-finder with the participants solving and finding clues and information.  The treasure hunt is fun for everyone and is a great team-building exercise.  Clues are hidden around Loch Lomond Shores and identified through images.  Infomation is collected, leading to the final clue, which the whole group must solve - the location of the treasure!

Problem Solving Games

Choose from a variety of problem solving games all engaging, competitive and lots of fun!  For example, watch the children as they use the tools given to retrieve the treasure from behind the ‘electric fence’.  See the ‘Spiderman’ in all the children as they tackle the ‘Spider’s Web.  Our good old-fashioned skipping games effectively promotes open communication, tactics and willingness to win!  Whichever problem solving game is chosen, we promise to entertain EVERY child EVERYTIME.

Mini Highland Games

Do you think the children have it in them to ‘toss the caber’, or is throwing a haggis more their style? For a fling with fun, they are guaranteed an exciting day to remember with our Highland Games. Location at Loch Lomond is ideal – where else would you expect the games to be held – a background guaranteed to stir the Scottish spirit in everyone!

Each team, or ‘clan’, competes against each other in traditional Highland games including caber tossing, hurling haggis, highland dancing (with a professional dancer), bag piper with a professional piper and tug of war. Some less traditional, entertaining games will be included, making this event light-hearted yet still challenging, requiring skill, teamwork, and communication.
